2nd "Couloirs d'Or " team member |

We are proud to announce our 2nd team member for the team "Couloir d'Or"! The new team member will receive his Mountain Hardwear jacket with the team logo and a very big BRAVO goes out to this very passionate skier. He finished his list of couloirs with the descent of the West face of the Aiguille du Goûter - the start of this descent is from the Dôme du Goûter and its fnish is in the village of Bionnassay - 3000 vertical metres in one single run, in a stunning backdrop, with parts of the descent reaching a steepness of 45 degrees. Our first team member is now almost finished with a second list of couloirs...he has completed 7 Couloirs d'Or and is soon to ski his 8th. The question is: Is this ski season going to be long enough for him to complete 2 Couloirs d'Or lists in the span of 2 winters???? Stay posted to find out. A quick reminder: the Couloirs d'Or are ski descents requiring a certain technical level of skiing. They are exceptionnal ski descents that require a excellent level of physical fitness and are mentally demanding. In most cases, all three factors are taken into consideration. The members of this special team are individuals who have a completed at least of 5 of these couloirs. Some team members can do this in one winter, and others will take 10 years. It's not a race, but rather a personal challenge that one sets. One achieves the goal at one's own rythm. It is the beauty of the itinerary that motivates the skiers and the desire to ski an incredible descent in an exceptional setting. Do keep in mind that some of our skiers do like to have fun and they're always up for a challenge!!!

We've been slacking on the news updates this season, but there's a good reason for this...we've just been too busy skiing....The snow has made a comeback. Its arrival has rekindled our clients' interest in skiing and there is big inspiration for some solid winter ski sessions. For the moment, we can't ski out to the valley floor, but up high the snow is fab...and who knows, with a little luck we may have more "ski to the valley" days ahead of us. Chamonix is always full of surprises. You just never know what's in store. We have the potential to ski from 4810m to 1000m, but Spring weather often stops us 1500m. Peakpowder knows how to take advantage of this potential! In altitude slopes are filling in and the snow is sticking, while down low we're busy doing laps. You thought the summer was on your doorstep? Think again...get your .... in gear, ski goggles on and fats out. There's more powder to come!!!

We're off, headed into the Ecrins National Park to set up our Mountain Hardwear "Free the Ride" backcountry base camp. It's looking like a powder week, with the weather forecast calling for fresh snow. The southern Alps are being hit with as much as snow as is expected in the North. The team of riders was selected 2 weeks ago in La Grave, and the selected team members will be kitted out head to tow by Mountain Hardwear. All the athletes are super motivated to make this week a memorable part of their winter season and are keen to get into the backcountry to rip up new lines. We've got a photographer and camera man with us to make sure that the spirit of this event is captured and more important than ever, to record the lines and keep you dreaming. We'll look forward to catching up with you after March 8th, and in the meantime, enjoy the powder skiing!
